Besides being a scholar, I am also an activist and engaged in politics.

In 2018, I co-founded Science for Democracy, a civil society organization engaged to increase the voice of science and its method is democratic deliberative processes and to ensure greater public participation in, and scrutiny of, the work of scientists.

I am a member of the Associazione Luca Coscioni for freedom of scientific research, and one of its legal advisers.

In 2018, I was a candidate for +Europa to the Camera dei Deputati (House of Representatives) of the Italian Parliament.
